Love — The Root of it All

When we begin to explore the Fruits of the Spirit, it’s no coincidence that love comes first. It’s not just a feeling or a word we toss around—it’s the very foundation of who God is and what He calls us to.

“Let all that you do be done in love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14
Love is the soil every other fruit grows from. It’s patient, kind, enduring, and sacrificial. It’s the love that sent Jesus to the cross and the same love that whispers to us in the quiet moments, You are mine.
But here’s the truth: real love is hard. It’s not always warm and fuzzy. Sometimes, it’s choosing to forgive when you’re still hurting. It’s speaking gently when you want to shout. It’s serving when you’d rather rest. It’s letting your heart break for what breaks God’s.
And yet, when we lean into the Spirit, love begins to bloom in places we thought were dry. We start to love our kids through tantrums, love our spouses through stress, love ourselves through seasons of doubt. Not because we’re good at it—but because He is.
This week, let’s ask ourselves:
Where do I need to let God’s love soften my heart?
Who in my life needs love today—even if they “don’t deserve it”?
How can I let everything I do be done in love?
A prayer to begin:
God, thank You for loving me fully and unconditionally. I confess that I don’t always love the way You’ve called me to. Teach me to love without conditions, expectations, or limits. Let Your love pour into my life so I can pour it out to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Let’s root ourselves in love today. The kind that changes things. The kind that reflects Christ.
With grace and growth,
Chasity
